About the Medi-Cal Managed Care Chlamydia Quality Initiative

The California Department of Health Services (DHS) Medi-Cal Managed Care Division and all contracted Medi-Cal managed care plans (MCP) have entered into a collaborative quality improvement effort with the California Chlamydia Action Coalition and the DHS Sexually Transmitted Disease Control Branch designed to improve the screening rate for chlamydia in women aged 16 to 26, as measured by the National Committee for Quality Assurance's Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS) clinical performance measure, All Medi-Cal managed care plans have done a baseline performance rate measurement using this measure and will be required to re-measure this rate in 2003. As a provider of services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries for one or more MCPs, your chlamydia screening rate contributes to the overall performance rates measured for your MCP(s). MCPs are very interested in improving their chlamydia screening HEDIS rates. The information contained in this online training is designed to help achieve this result.

Incentives for Training:

After completion of the online training, physicians, nurses, and pharmacists will be eligible to take an exam that may qualify them for continuing education units. The exam consists of 20 multiple choice questions. Continuing education credit will be provided to all those who score at least 80% on the final exam. See Continuing Education Credits.

Many of the individual Medi-Cal Managed Care plans are providing additional incentives to their plan members. Please contact your plan medical director to learn more about your MCP's specific incentives (if any) and how to qualify for them.
